India continues to gun for glory in sports. After the cheerful Olympics, the U.S Open has brought more laurels to India's wreath. The Godfather of Indian tennis Leander Paes along with his partner Cara Black won the mixed doubles title at the US Open.
The duo defeated British Jamie Murray and his American Liezel Huber. After an exhausting 1 hr 20 minutes, Paes made the title winning serve.
Paes continued to be his trademark modest self. "The trick in doubles," he said, "is to find a good partner. I let Cara do all the work and just sat back and enjoyed it."
This is the second US Open and fourth Grand Slam mixed doubles title for Paes. Paes, 35, next faces the men's doubles final along with his partner, Czech Lukas Dloughy. They play against twins Bob and Mike Bryan.
Paes is one of the most successful Indian tennis players. His first big success came in 1996 when he won the bronze medal at the Atlanta Olympics.
