The Pakistan government has got a major face lift... after the Coup d'état nearly ten years ago courtesy of Pervez Musharraf, a new President has been elected.
Asif Ali Zardari, the widower of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto is the new Sheriff in town. Rather than risk being impeached, Pervez Musharraf resigned and Zardari won a sweeping victory in the presidential election.
He won 481 votes out of 702 leaving his two rivals trailing far behind.
After Benazir Bhutto was killed last december, her husband Zardari was thrust into the centre of the political arena and he quickly became head of the PPP. It wasn't exactly a cake walk for him since he is considered as one of the most controversial politicians of Pakistan.
After being accused of massive corruption, being imprisoned by Pervez Musharraf, witnessing his wife's assassination and her father Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's death penalty, President Zardari only faces more mountains to move - the demands of the US, Pakistan's powerful army, and prevalent anti-American attitude in the country.
And future US President Barrack Obama accusing Pakistan of preparing to wage a war against India doesn't in any way help matters.
