The Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG)has approved the long debated Indo-US nuclear deal.... much to Pranab Mukherjee's delight, gone are the restrictions on selling nuclear technology to India.
"After protracted negotiations, the NSG today adopted an exemption for nuclear exports to India," the Austrian Foreign Ministry said.
The NSG, that is made of 45 nations took three days of lengthy talks, debates and negotiations in Vienna to finally reach agreement.
It isn't quite the sunny side of the omelet for the critics of the nuclear deal. In case you didn't already knw, critics (and there are many) say that the deal would destabilize the arguments for isolating Iran over its nuclear programme... and it also could be a cracker filled disaster for international non-proliferation efforts.
But the supporters of the deal would certainly breathe a loud sigh of relief, what with the nasty new Twist in the Deal that popped up two days ago.
Although there is one tiny little step still left - authorization by the US Congress.
